An innovative leader that has worked with international and cross functional teams to build successful projects and businesses in frontier markets. With over a decade of working internationally with midsize to Fortune 500 companies, he has successfully developed emerging market strategies that manage risk while balancing local partnerships and building shared value.
As an engineer, program manager and business development director, Ben has well rounded experience in operations, project management, supply chain, business development, and marketing in frontier markets.
He holds a BA Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington and an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Ben has a passion for farming and fish, having grown up on a dairy farm in rural Washington state and working himself through college as a commercial fisherman in Alaska. Ben currently resides in Dar es Salaam with his wife and two children.
DR. JONATHEN ARUL
DIRECTOR AND CO FOUNDER
Having graduated from the Royal Veterinary School of Edinburgh University (RDSVS) in 2011, Jon has spent his career in population medicine, large scale agriculture and livestock production and has worked in the UK, Middle East and East Africa .
In 2014 Jon co founded Mawio Farms as a Director, adding his experience and technical expertise to the poultry business. In 2016 Jon co founded Maneli TZ Ltd, an aquaculture business focused on improved production systems. He has developed an intricate knowledge of the Tanzanian agriculture industry over the past 3 years. His passion is in developing sustainable and high performance agricultural production systems.
Dulla grew up in Dar es Salaam and is a garage trained mechanic, having left school at age 15 to pursue his career. In 2011 after a short stint back in school he decided to change paths and became a tour guide in some of Tanzania’s National Parks.
It was in 2015 that Dulla started his career in Aquaculture and has accumulated a wealth of experience in fish farm set up and management. He uses his tenacity as a mechanic to solve real farm problems and improve production.
Dulla joined IOA from the ground up and has been instrumental in the development of the business, his passion for farming and ability to tackle day to day management challenges has propelled IOA forward.
Matthew McLean is founder and president of Endsight Consulting of Washington DC, which specializes in business affairs in Africa. Endsight helps Western companies enter the African market, helps secure financing projects, and advises African presidencies on economic development.
Before creating Endsight in 2001, Matt worked in both the public and private sectors. He served three tours as an international affairs advisor in the White House for Presidents Clinton and Bush. He also served as Chief of Staff at the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC US) and professional staff for the US Congress and USAID.
Matt lives in Virginia (United States) and is married with four children.
